Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy

Chitkara University Publications (CUP) is committed to creating and sustaining a publishing environment that champions diversity, advances equity, and fosters inclusion at every stage of the scholarly communication process. We believe that a robust and ethical research ecosystem is built on the meaningful participation of individuals from all backgrounds, identities, geographies, and career stages.

Our Commitments

Inclusive Editorial Practices
We strive to build editorial boards that are diverse and representative of the global research community. Our selection processes prioritize balanced representation across gender, geography, ethnicity, career stage, and subject expertise. We are dedicated to minimizing bias in editorial decisions and peer review.

Equity in Authorship and Peer Review
CUP journals are committed to ensuring that all authors and reviewers are treated with fairness and respect. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on academic merit, originality, and relevance—regardless of an individual’s institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, or other personal characteristics. We actively seek to elevate underrepresented voices in scholarly publishing.

Respect for Personal Identity
We support an inclusive name change policy that enables authors to update their names in previously published articles without public disclosure. This policy exists to respect and protect personal identity changes due to gender transition, cultural, religious, or other personal reasons.

Education and Awareness
Our editorial and publishing teams are regularly engaged in training and professional development to build awareness, recognize bias, and adopt inclusive practices throughout the editorial and peer review processes.

Transparent and Inclusive Data Practices
To strengthen our DEI efforts, we encourage voluntary self-identification from authors, reviewers, and editorial board members. Collected data is used exclusively to assess and improve diversity within our publishing ecosystem and is handled with strict confidentiality and in compliance with privacy standards.

By embedding DEI principles into our editorial and publishing practices, CUP seeks to cultivate a research culture that is open, inclusive, equitable, and globally relevant.
