Correction Withdrawal Retraction Policy

Correction Policy

Correction is used as a term to describe the formal correction of errors found in already published articles. Scientific conclusions, academic validity, and general interpretation of the work are not changed in most cases with such corrections.
Strict editorial review and proofreading are done before publication so that inaccuracies are minimal. The editorial team and the authors pay close attention to the review of manuscripts at various stages with the purpose of making them precise, consistent, and aligned with the publication standards.

In case any inaccuracy is found after publication, either by readers, authors, or even the editors, it must be immediately reported to the publisher at journals@chitkara.edu.in. The editorial office will conduct a thorough review of the reported issue once such communication has been received. In cases where the concern is confirmed, a formal correction will be made in line with the laid-down policies on publication.

Withdrawal Policy

Formally accepted, but not yet published, manuscripts may be withdrawn by submitting a valid and well-justified withdrawal request. These requests shall be submitted in writing by the corresponding author and sent to the publisher. Since enormous editorial, administrative, and production resources are invested at the peer review and acceptance levels, any authors who demand withdrawal at this level will have to pay the publisher the processing costs. The charges applicable are as follows:

  • Withdrawal requests must be signed/approved by all co-authors.
  • The corresponding author must confirm consensus.
  • INR 5,000 for authors in India.
  • USD 150 for foreign-based authors.

Note: Fees are administrative in nature (processing/handling costs). They may be waived in cases of editorial error.

When the withdrawal request has been accepted, the manuscript will be permanently removed from the publication workflow and will not be further processed or stored in the publishing system. Any editorial and production processes will be brought to a stop. At the end of the process, a written notice of withdrawal will be given to the authors.

Retraction Policy

A retraction is a formal withdrawal of an article that has been published in the scholarly literature. The editorial authorities usually make retractions after a thorough evaluation of the situation.

An article can be considered for retraction in cases of explicit and substantiated evidence of:

  • Inaccurate or invalid study results.
  • Violation of academic or research practices.
  • Ethical violations.
  • Major violations of publication ethics.
Retraction will, however, not be done in the following circumstances:
  • In the event of controversy over authorship where there is no plausible argument to cast doubt on the validity of findings.
  • Where the mistakes found do not substantially impinge on the findings and conclusions of the work.
  • Where it is open to final editorial determination as to retraction.
  • In cases where the conflict of interest was not disclosed and it did not affect the editorial decision or peer review process.

Editors of the journal office will include a Note with published articles.

Principles and standards developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) direct the CUP Journals Retraction Policy to a large extent. Guidelines are provided in detail: please see: https://publicationethics.org/files/retraction%20guidelines.pdf.
