I feel honored and privileged to announce the launch of new Research initiative in the form of the Research Journal titled 'Journal of Pharmaceutical Technology, Research and Management (J. Pharm. Technol. Res. Manag.)'. It is a venture to promote research expertise in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical technologies.
The aim behind this initiative is that the Journal should go far beyond its regional and national boundaries and to promote a culture of exchange of research and ideas. This Journal would be an effort to transform the traditional way of conservative thinking to open mindset to adapt new concepts and ideas in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. The 'Journal of Pharmaceutical Technology, Research and Management (J. Pharm. Technol. Res. Manag.)' will serve as a platform to promote research in the vast and dynamic field of pharmacy.

We had embarked on a journey in the year 1998 when we took upon ourselves the task of contributing to the cause of higher professional education. It has been a very hectic and fast paced odyssey and with the first issue of "Journal of Pharmaceutical Technology, Research and Management (J. Pharm. Technol. Res. Manag.)." we have reached yet another important milestone. The Journal serves as a platform for dissemination of original and high quality research in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology and related domains.
Pharmaceutical Industry is a dynamic industry evolving continuously utilizing development and advances in various fields of Pharmaceutical sciences including Drug design, Discovery, Development, Formulation and Manufacturing Technologies, Quality Management Systems, Pharmaceutical Regulations, Product and Project Planning and Promotional Strategies. The field constant evolution with new molecules, products and technology continuously replacing or improving upon the old in the form of new developments. These developments have led to many researches in this field being conducted. (J. Pharm. Technol. Res. Manag.) acts as a medium to capture and present these researches and their methods to its readers.
I congratulate Chitkara University for its success in putting together the first issue of this Journal. I strongly believe that, in the years to come, such ventures would help the University to become a leading research centre in the region.
Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Editorial and the Advisory Boards for their efforts in aiming for and achieving high quality in the content of the Journal. I hope it would help the readers get better insights in the domains covered in this issue.

It gives me immense pleasure to write this introductory message for the first issue of Journal of Pharmaceutical Technology, Research and Management (J. Pharm. Technol. Res. Manag.). The journal is introduced with an objective to provide recent advances and updates in the areas Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Clinical Research, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmacovigilance, Pharmaceutical Management, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Polymers Science, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Quality assurance, Intellectual Property Rights. The Pharmaceutical Industry is again in a phase of transition with the concept of ACO and ACP (Accountabler Care Organisation and Accountable Care Providers) catching up. The concept stems from the growing need felt at all levels to have therapeutic costs proportionate to the value they deliver. Thus changes in prescription patterns are, as expected, taking place to make them more accountable, which in turn requires Drug discovery, Development and Product establishment processes to be more rationale, ensuring value for money more than ever.
Thus tightening budgets and regulatory constraints demand fresh strategies for ensuring value from limited resources. Other trends including growth of generic markets, increased recall incidents, increased insurance coverage, increase in 65+ populations, use of social media including context based services, EMR datas and cloud to cut business costs, and emergence of CROs and Academic Data Services will affect research and academics, technology and commercial production in many ways. Recent advances in pharmaceutical technology including, Photoresponsive hydrogels for biomedical applications, Magnetically enhanced nucleic acid delivery, Self-folding polymeric containers for encapsulation and delivery of drugs, elastin-like polypeptides, Vectors (carriers) used for tumor-targeted gene delivery; Platform technologies in formulation and other areas, including AVERSION Technology, IMPEDE Technology (Acura Pharma), and many Biotechnological Platform technologies, viz., PER.C6 human cell lines, have added new possibilities in development. Clinical Research methodologies have included new parameters, viz., Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) for Extended-release & Long-acting (ER/LA) Opioids, Missoula - VITAS Quality of Life Index (MVQOLI) etc.
The journal aims to offer a medium for the propagation of research in all the above fields and publish quality peer reviewed research work. I would extend a warm welcome to the members of the Editorial Team and wish them best so that the task we have laid out is well achieved.
